Triumph Over Adversity Project

Triumph Over Adversity (A Mountaineer's Story)

In production spring and summer 2010:

A documentary feature film exploring the life and current projects of pioneer climber and motivational speaker Dr. Norman Croucher O.B.E.

Dr. Norman Croucher O.B.E. is a world-renowned double leg amputee climber, he has been featured on ‘This is Your Life’ television programme, and a regional BBC documentary, he is author of several books, including ‘Legless but Smiling’; his autobiography that documents his incredible feats.

Synopsis:

The journey narrative will reveal to the viewer Norman’s climbing history commencing where he started near his father's farm in Cornwall, through to training in Devon for a new project. The film’s culmination will be a climb in the Pyrenees to promote and raise money for an organisation that manufactures and fits new artificial limbs (manufactured in India at a fraction of the cost of similar limbs in the U.K. and U.S.), and to mark Norman’s seventieth birthday. The film’s purposes are twofold: firstly the narrative will act as the vehicle to tell the biography of Norman Croucher, a mountaineer with a story which everyone can relate to as a triumph over adversity and secondly, to raise awareness of a worldwide issue; the need for artificial limbs. Camera styles will involve fluid movement and remarkable climbing perspectives. This is a story that will inspire and one that will genuinely make a difference.
